Book Talk: A Place at the Nayarit
This event is no longer on sale.
USC Professor and MacArthur Fellow Natalia Molina in conversation with Autry CEO Steve Aron, to discuss her latest book on the hidden history of the Nayarit, a neighborhood restaurant in Echo Park that nourished its community of Mexican immigrants with a sense of belonging as they made their own places in Los Angeles. The Nayarit was a local landmark, popular with both Hollywood stars and restaurant workers from across the city, but it was much more than a popular eating spot: it was an urban anchor and a gathering space where ethnic Mexican workers and customers connected with their patria chica (their “small country”).
Presentation followed by a book signing – copies available at the Autry Store
